Do you remember me telling you about the photographer from the 3 day walk?
Well, he has finished his blog spot about The Faithful Fighters... it fantastic!
Hi Katie, thank you so much for sharing your story and the fight you are waging. I walked in Seattle this year and thought many times about approaching you and talking but felt you did not need to hear from someone that had lost a survivor considering the fight you are in. My Martha was a 20 year survivor and she too knew that if it returned there was no cure, only management of the disease. I decided after she lost her battle that her story could not pass with her, and set out to fight for a cure so that others would never have to endure what she did. My name is John Shinar and I am the guy that is walking in all of the events this year. I am walking for my Martha, but more importantly I walking for you, your family and all that are in this incredible fight. I will never quit, I will walk, I will run, I will ride, until there is a cure. After reading your Joel’s wonderful post, (he did one on our family during the Twin Cities walk) , I felt compelled to write you and let you know that I will never stop the fight until we have reunions, and not fundraisers. I also wanted to let you know in the most sincere way that if by God’s will your battle here should end, you will have angel waiting in Martha that will let you know you can help from above. She has been with me for every step, and has helped guide me in my new life. We have a chance to make a difference on this earth and you are doing just that, but I am now convinced it pales in comparison to the difference we will make from the heavens above.
